This distribution is a direct consequence of property taxes on domiciles and the taxation of essential costs of living like groceries and transportation.

Cause that 5% tax (thats been there for 50 years) is why groceries are so high.

No but it’s a regressive tax in my opinion, I’d much prefer that Arizona would follow the majority of other states and simply not tax groceries at all because it’s food. And at least attempting to curtail legislative jackasses, ironically would probably be Republicans, from using it to cover shortfalls is a okay thing.

Don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s a stupid law wasn’t necessary at this time, and certainly one of these “feel good” bullshit laws but whatever.

I def agree groceries shouldn’t be taxed. But yeah it didn’t even get rid of the existing tax. Just locked it from increasing.

Any sales tax, but especially grocery taxes, hurt poor people much more than rich people. They are one the most regressive types of tax.

I mean I agree there shouldn’t be a grocery tax. But I think it’s likely being toted as efforts to address the inflation of groceries, when it’s not.
