After my cycling accident the ambulance gave me fentanyl. Damn, did I feel horrible. Still in a lot of pain, it didn’t help with that in any way, and it made me feel so insanely bad. Same with morphine and other opiods. They are not for me. They give me very realistic nightmares. And I don’t know how to describe the bad feeling, but it’s both mentally and physically.

I’m in the same boat. Had a surgery years ago where they tried giving me fentanyl, dilaudid, and tramadol at different points and they all just made me incredibly nauseous with no noticeable pain relief. I still remember the nurse in the PACU being really confused that my pain was still an 8/10 despite being on the max dose of tramadol.

I woke up screaming after surgery.

I had the max allowed dosis of oxicontin, oxicodone, ketamine, paracetamol, ibuprofen and a nerve blocker yet my pain was a 9/10. Doctor: “sorry mate, can’t do anything else for ya, you’ve got the max allowed. Good luck! Oh, we can’t let you go home anymore, you’ve had too much stuff for that.”

Later I needed to pee but I was connected to loads of tubes and such. The nurse put the machines on my bed so I could turn to the side to pee in a cardboard container. I got out of bed, standing up without issue. She jumped from the other side to catch me, which was totally not necessary. She said: “But you can’t stand on your own legs with what you’ve had. I’ve never seen this before, how!”
