Idr the name of the effect -when you notice something and now it’s on your radar so it stands out and it’s more glaring when you notice it again, until you start seeing it all over the place…

Unwarranted hate on Frankenstein’s monster. I feel compelled to defend the duder every time I see it pop up, and lately I keep seeing it pop up.

Obligatory plug: if anyone reading this hasn’t read Mary Shelley’s original story, consider giving it a whirl. It’s old-ish English, but not like Shakespearean or anything - it stops looking/feeling ‘old’ after the first chapter or so. It still holds up to modern standards, and is the original sci-fi horror. The monster in particular is an actual character with its own personality and arcs - not just the mindless zombie portrayed in media since.

Only half of those people belong in that queue.

I’m not sure who the last one is supposed to be. Napoleon? Why?

You know, I liked Del Toro’s version, partly because it specifically addresses my pet peeve, that the pedants who try to correct people that “Frankenstein is the Doctor” don’t realize the Monster should also be surnamed Frankenstein, but I really don’t like that it has done exactly what I thought it would, trick people who can’t read or who can’t hold multiple canons in their head into thinking that the Monster isn’t a monster.
