I read the “traditional” way was anchovies, tomatoes, and black olives. I can see that. It’s like “pasta puttanesca” (prostitute pasta). A basic pasta sauce using inexpensive, common, pantry staples (in Italy back in the day): anchovies, tomatoes, capers, olives.
It’s good (and still inexpensive and easy, like your mom <rimshot>)
I dunno. Maybe. I didn’t eat a ton of pop tarts, honestly. But I’m fairly sure there were unfrosted flavors back in the day.
