They are claiming that RFK’s move here is addressing the “unregulated supply chain” aspect of this problem, but certainly the “no requirement to demonstrate safety or effectiveness” thing is still a problem.

I started to consider how its possible to end up with someone this bad as press secretary.
Is it:
- No one with competence wants to work for this administration
- Someone close to her bought Trump’s crypto
- they purposely put someone who is incompetent there as a “fuck you” to the press
All of the above?
Interesting, I thought I just read that TypeScript compiler was rewritten in Go and that they had good reasons for choosing Go over Rust.

I’ve talked to plenty of chuchgoing people that would rather have the church die out than have it change.

Frats are so cringey. And it’s even more cringey how frat bros graduate and then are staffing each others’ corporate shitholes with each other like “hey I know that guy, he was on my gang rape group chat, let’s hire him”.

I don’t think political parties should be written into the law at all, but in general the ability to vote to recall a politician should be. Some states are able to do that, and there should be a new election if they are recalled.

The DNC fucked over Bernie.
The primary voters voted for Hillary over Bernie, even before the superdelegates became relevant at the convention.
Both can be true.
Regardless of all the shenanigans with the superdelegates, I highly doubt that the DNC would have nominated Hillary if Bernie had actually won the primaries.
Voters could have seen through the DNC shenanigans and chose Bernie, but they didn’t.
It’s the same with all the dark money corporate contributions… Does it influence the result? The data surely shows that it does, but voters still have the choice to NOT let that dark money spending influence their decision.

Maybe, they’re really not far from Toronto, I’m not sure about the logistics of cross-border banking but it seems very possible that some businesses in the Toronto area would need a bank account across the border.

It’s an interesting issue, since it isn’t really a freedom of speech issue since the government is not censoring this person.
Republicans cried foul in cases like these (which are not censorship) and then put in an administration that DOES do censorship.
Generally speaking, Republicans don’t agree with regulations that would prevent employers from hiring or firing however they want.
Then they started stripping funding from institutions that supposedly were “DEI hiring”.
So at this point they’re clear that “cancel culture is only bad when Trump supporters are fired”.
I have a more nuanced view, which is that if you accept a job where you are very publicly associated with the company, the employer should be able to have a clause where they specify you can be terminated for your public social media activity. Anything that isn’t fully public doesn’t count.
It would have to be clear that it is a condition of employment that you not get political on social media as you’re accepting a C level position, etc.
If you post anonymously somewhere and that account isn’t actually associated with you or your company, then that should be like a workaround for the above.
Otherwise, as long as you aren’t associating your public posts WITH your company, and aren’t harassing your coworkers, etc, they shouldn’t be able to fire you for them.

There are some novels I read that have good world building that I didn’t realize were related to the game until the end. They were pretty good, but maybe not Peter F. Hamilton’s best work.
I’m not really seeing a bloodbath, S&P 500 still up more than 10% YTD.
If that is a bloodbath then what term are they going to use for an actual crash?
